Thunderbirds

A magical bird in the mythology of the Quinaintes of the Americas. The Indians of the Pacific coast believed that the thunderbird was a giant bird that carried a lake, was a source of precipitation, devoured whales and spat its bones on the tops of mountains. The mountain Indians, however, believed it to be a small red bird with wings capable of firing lightning arrows.
